The real reason why Germany became world champion

Sex makes you happier, more balanced, and boosts the testosterone levels. Everyone knows the positive effects of the most beautiful thing in the world. But what about the performance of top athletes who have sex before important competitions?

sex and powerLet's have a look at the last major event which most Germans like to remember: The World Cup in Brazil. Some coaches imposed a celibacy on their teams. The players from Mexico, Chile, and Russia for example were not allowed to have any contact with their wives and girlfriends during the entire world cup. Maybe the desire of these players to end their withdrawal and get back to their partners was greater than the desire to win and reach the final? We don´t want to assume this. Nevertheless, it´s a fact that no celibacy was imposed on the four semi-finalists - Germany, Netherlands, Argentina, and Brazil.  For the Dutch and Argentine players, there were no restrictions at all. The Germans were not allowed to have sex on the night before a game. The Brazilians should limit themselves to "normal things" and avoid "acrobatics".

Tolerance beats withdrawal

But why would someone come up with the idea to avoid sex before important competitions?A nice explanation can be found in George Orwell's novel 1984. The regime restricts the "private hours" of the population. A party member explains: "When you make love, you consume energy; afterwards you feel happy and therefore don´t give a damn about your tasks. We can not allow you you feel that way. You should burst with energy all the time!"That sounds logical: Abstain from short-term reward to achieve long-term goals. However, studies show that there is no scientific justification for this. The American scientist Dr. Boone [1] investigated two test groups:
  1. Members of Group A had sex 12 hours before the test
  2. Members of group B abstained
The performance of both groups was measured on the treadmill, including oxygen uptake, heart rate, and blood pressure amplitude.Boone found no differences between the two groups. In 1968, a study showed that men who abstained from sexual activities for six days did not perform better in strength tests than men who did not hold back. [2]Countless other studies confirm:There is no negative correlation between sex and physical performance. But there are positive effects on overall mood, balance, and creativity. Thus even the fastest, strongest, and most succesful athletes in the world do not live in celibacy. Why should any normal person? Literature[1] Boone, Tommy, and S.
